Fuss =
"Heel"
The dog is to assume a position at the handler's left side, keeping his right
shoulder beside the handler's left kneed and adjusting his pace whether the handler
is walking, running or stationary. When the handler stops, the dog is to
automatically sit.
Setz = "Sit"
The dog should remain sitting until given an additional command.
Platz = "Down"
The dog is to immediately lie prone and not move again till given an
additional command. The only parts of the body the dog may move re its tail
or its head.
Stey = "Stand & Stay"
The dog is to stop moving, stand still and not move until given an additional
command. Command is given while heeling, the handler
continues walking away from the dog and turns to face the dog when at a
distance of a few steps or up to 30 paces, depending upon the level of
training the dog has received.
Bleib = "Stay"
Not used often, never on the schutzund field, since
the stationary commands automatically include a "stay" component.
Most often used to emphasize a platz under more
casual circumstances.
Hier = "Come"
Used primarily on the Schutzhund training field,
means the dog is to RUN towards the handler at full speed and to sit
attentively directly in front of the handler. Under casual circumstances the
handler generally uses the term "come here" or "c'mere" to distinguish for the dog that it is not a
formal exercise, and that the dog is only expected to get near enough to the
handler to be touched.
Voraus = "Run Out
The command is accompanied by an arm gesture pointing away from the handler
in the direction of movement. The dog is to run at full speed in a straight
line until the handler gives a command to "platz",
at which point the dog is to turn towards the handler and lie down awaiting
further commands.
Voran = "Find, Hold, and Bark"
The dog is to search for the "bad guy" and then indicate their
whereabouts by barking until the handler arrives or until the "bad
guy" attacks, whereupon the dog will automatically grip and hold the
arm.
Gib Laut = "Speak"
Dog should bark on command.
Pas Auf =
"Watch Out" or "On Guard"
The dog should be alert for the approach of a "bad guy". Dog may
begin acting aggressively and barking.
Packen = "Attack"
The dog should courageously confront and bite the "bad guy".
Such =
"Search"
The dog should track footstep to footstep.
